Having heard from fellow colleagues and friends that Mr. Snicket was a hilarious presenter, I was excited to hear him. My friends were correct! He had the whole crowd laughing from beginning to end. I purchased a copy of the book for myself and one for our school library, so look for it on the shelves soon! Thank you Scholastic Book Fairs!
Yesterday, Scholastic Book Fairs hosted a special event for librarians and a guest. The feature author was Lemony Snicket! He has a brand new series out called: All the Wrong Questions. I took my boyfriend along with me and we both had a great time listening to Mr. Snicket talk about his life and his books.

Pictured here - Ms. Smith, Mr. Douglas, and seated Mr. Lee Bacon! Blue Willow had an Educator's Event Monday night and Random House graciously gave out free books! Lee Bacon published his first novel, Joshua Dread. I have not had the chance to read it yet, but I am super excited! The Blue Willow staff said if you like The Lightning Thief series, then you will enjoy this book! I will keep you posted once I start! Last week, I got to meet Lois Lowry! She was one of the first to start the dystopian literature that I love so much! The first book in this series is The Giver and this is the fourth and final book. I started it yesterday and finished today...it was so well-written and enjoyable. It's told in three parts so that helped to keep the story flowing for me. I so enjoyed reading it and look forward to sharing this book with many students in the coming months. This week, I got to meet Kenneth Oppel at the Blue Willow Bookshop. It was a great time and I got the book, This Dark Endeavor. Rich and I like to read together so we will make this our next book to read aloud...it's based on the early life of Frankenstein and his family.
Blue Willow is a great bookstore - check out their website! http://www.bluewillowbookshop.com/ I also finished Paranormalcy this morning! Such a great read - I saw there's a second one, but I am not sure if I will read it because I liked the ending so much. There is a great bookshop on Memorial and Dairy Ashford called Blue Willow. They have author visits, activities, and a brilliant staff. Tonight Tom Angleberger was signing copies of his new book, Darth Paper Strikes Back. I have heard great things about The Strange Case of Origami Yoda, so I am excited to read it! The best part of the night was when Mr. Angleberger taught us all how to make our very own Origami Yoda in just 5 folds. So much fun!
